SHARON'S "FAMILY HISTORY" RESOURCE CENTER
CLASS NOTES & ASSIGNMENTS
CLASS#1

1.  Organization is a major key to successful geneology research
Each person will find what works for  them.  The suggestions made in class # 1 work best for me.  Use this system until you find one that works better for you. (see information #1 cont.)
2.
Fill out forms received in class as best you can.
They will become your "starting" point for research.  You will be able to "enter" information from this chart at the Family Searchsite right away.
3.  Please register at Family Search
( you may begin entering in the information from your pedigree chart now)
                                                                CLASS #2
.  Record sur-names in all capital letters.  Record middle names and nick-names with given name, if possible.
12.  Contact other family and friends that may have family info for you..If possible, record their family info for future generations. It is important to offer to share what you have researched (if appropriate).  I have recruited 2 cousins to be on the "committee" to help with our family research.
3.  Be as accurate as you can when recording info.  Double check all other contradicting data.....Sometimes things will be only "heresay"...I call that info., "Legends"...and include it in the writing of the "family story / history".
4.  Try to research "direct line" ancestors first.  If you come to a place where  info is not available, continue on with what information you do have or can find easily.....1st things 1st.  (Finding additional information will come later)
Lesson #3

1.  The Church policy is that we submit no names to the Temple that are not our immediatefamily  without "permission" from their closest living relative.

2.  Make calls or write letters to all family members that you feel can help to gather additional information
on your ancestors.  Remember that someday you will be one of the surviving family members..others,
now  living, will eventually be "gone".

3.  The printed questionaire provided in class will help you collect information.

4.  Keep this information together. It will be used in a future class.

5.  "Persons must have been deceased for at least one year" before Temple work can be done.
NOTE:

You will find on the page the first 3 classes.  To see classes 4 thru 6, please go to the"Class information continued" page.

#1 cont. Collect all materials into one place, (preferable located by your computer)..  Separate into "family" piles and place into individual "magazine holders" or files of some sort. Label each with "surname".  Place research log into each holder and use for that specific family.  When the container gets too full, separate into additional "surname" files...keep going
